Acceptance

Please read Atomic Travel’s terms and conditions published on our website here before purchase of the ticket is made. By purchasing the ticket, you confirm acceptance of these terms and conditions. Atomic Travel reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions from time to time without notice to you and you acknowledge that any revised conditions (see below) will apply to any bookings made by you and will supersede any prior terms and conditions. By purchasing the ticket you also acknowledge that it is your responsibility to review the website from time to time to ensure that you comply with any revised terms and conditions.

How to Make a Booking

Online bookings can be made here. A booking fee of $3.99 applies to all online reservations and is non-refundable.

Travel departures

Take note of the departure time on the ticket and be at the pick-up location 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time.  Make yourself visible to the driver as the driver approaches the pick-up location. You will be deemed a ‘no-show’ if you are not at the designated location at the designated time stated on the ticket. Click here for the pick-up locations and departure times. 

Please note, the driver is not obligated to call any passenger if they fail to join the service at the correct date, departure time, or pick-up location. The driver is unable to wait or return to collect any passengers. Refunds, ticket transfers, or credits will not be given if passengers miss the bus or fail to join the service for any reason regardless of the ticket type.

Smart Fare
Smart Fare – Flexibility when you need it

Transferable
With a smart fare, the travel date can be changed for FREE!  Any changes to your travel date can be made up to 3 hours before the departure time. A smart fare ticket can only be transferred once and the new travel date must be within 4 weeks of the original travel date. The date can only be transferred to the scheduled routes, days, and times offered. If the scheduled route or day is no longer offered, the refund option can be selected instead.

Refundable
A smart fare is refundable up to 3 hours before the departure time. Any refunds given are less booking fee and cost of insurance paid*.

Travel Credit
No travel credit is available for the smart fare ticket option.

Transfer Expiry
The last ticket transfer travel date for 2022 is 2 December 2022.

*The booking fee is $3.99. The insurance fee is $10.99. Total non-refundable fee is $14.99
Saver Fare
Saver Fare – Simple & Straightforward without the fuss

The saver fare is non-refundable and offers a one-time transfer option. With a saver fare, the travel date may be changed one time only to another departure date. Any changes to your travel date must be made before 5pm the day before your date of travel ($7 change fee applies). A saver fare ticket can only be transferred once and the new travel date must be within 4 weeks of the original travel date. Please note, credit is not available for this fare.

With a saver fare, dates can only be transferred to the scheduled routes, days, and times offered. If the scheduled route or day is no longer offered, no refund will be given unless ticket refund insurance has been purchased.

Transfer Expiry
The last ticket transfer travel date for 2022 is 2 December 2022.

Baggage Allowance
Our ticket price includes one piece of hand luggage and large bag to be placed in the storage compartment. Just make sure they contain items that are non-smell-able, non-perishable, non-flammable or non-combustible. There is a small fee of $10 for each extra bag.
Bikes
We love cycling ourselves. It’s a great way to see New Zealand (almost as good as a bus). We take the utmost care of them on the journey. Just in case, do make sure your travel insurance does cover any damage. So far our cyclists are more than happy with our care and reliable service. Most bikes fit on our bike rack. Contact our call centre to confirm and make the booking for you.

Remember, no compensation will be given if the bike is damaged in any way while travelling with Atomic Travel so do check your travel insurance policy.

Children - unaccompanied minors
Children (7-12 years) can travel on their own on selected, direct routes. Just complete and submit the Unaccompanied Minors Travel Form (“UMTF”) to inform us who is dropping them off at the departure location and collecting them at the destination including contact information. Do take time to read Atomic Travel’s Unaccompanied Minor Policy (“UMP”) and check the box to indicate you have read the form and understand it
Infants and young children
When travelling with Atomic Travel, infants (0-4 years) and young children (5-7 years) must travel with an adult (18 years and up). Infants and children travelling with an adult must travel on a booked seat. Infants and young children are not allowed to travel on the lap of an adult.
Assist Animals
Certified assist animals are welcome and we do take other caged pets, please contact Atomic Travel (info@atomictravel.co.nz) with your details.
Oversized luggage

Pets
Caged pets are welcome. We do place them in the storage compartment unless the rest of the passengers are comfortable with a pet on board. Some don’t. Others may have allergies (I do). Our amazing drivers will check with the passengers before the pet boards and let you know.
Unaccompanied Freight

Need a parcel moved on its own? We’ve moved anything from bags to boards. The freight must be delivered to the driver at the departure location and collected from the driver at the destination. Remember to label the parcel clearly. If you have a product to be delivered on a regular schedule, we are happy to help. Contact our customer care centre or email us here to discuss your freight requirements.

Lost property promise
Leaving items on the bus is frustrating indeed. Send Atomic Travel the details to info@atomic.co.nz (include your order number, name, description of the missing item, and where you left it). Atomic Travel will investigate and get back to you within two working days. Do make sure the relevant authorities are notified if required.
COVID Cancellations Terms & Precautions
COVID CANCELLATIONS TERMS

Should you be unable to travel because of COVID19 or you are unwell, notification by email must be made by 5pm the day before travel. The travel date may only be transferred once and must be used within 4 weeks of the original travel date. A transfer fee of $7 applies. Dates can only be transferred to the scheduled routes, days, and times offered. If you fail to cancel in accordance with our COVID cancellation terms, the travel ticket(s) are not eligible for refund, ticket transfer, or credit regardless of the fare type purchased.

COVID PRECAUTIONS

Atomic Travel is following the government’s COVID-19 Protection Framework guidelines provided here to ensure passengers are safe during COVID. Social distancing is not required as part of the protection framework guidelines.

QR SCANNING
Atomic Travel buses have QR codes. Passengers are required to scan when they board the bus.

MASK WEARING REQUIRED
You’ll need to supply your own mask and keep it on throughout your journey. Please follow all instructions provided by your driver.

UNWELL
Please stay home and do not travel if you are sick or have any of the following flu-like symptoms: a cough, high temperature of at least 38c, shortness of breath, sore throat, sneezing and runny nose or a temporary loss of smell. For more information click here. Should you be unable to travel because of COVID19 or you are unwell, upcoming bookings can be transferred to another travel date. A $7 transfer fee applies (see COVID cancellations terms above). Refund of the ticket price is only available for smart fare passengers only (booking fee and insurance are non-refundable).

Changes, refunds and cancellations

SAVER FARE

ONE-TIME TRANSFER OPTION ONLY*

SMART FARE

FREE ONE-TIME TRANSFER OPTION OR REFUND
Changes to the travel date or refunds to the smart fare must be received by email up to 3 hours before departure.

REFUNDABLE
A smart fare is refundable up to 3 hours before the departure time. Any refunds given are less booking fee and cost of insurance paid**. Notification of the cancellation is required by email up to 3 hours before the departure time. Email the customer care team here. The refund will be made to the original credit card used. If the payment was made bank-to-bank, our customer care team will contact you for further details so the refund can be made.

FINAL TRANSFER DATE
Tickets must be transferred in the same calendar year. The last travel date for 2022 is 2 December.

*$7 change fee applies
**The booking fee is $3.99. The insurance fee is $10.99. Total non-refundable fee is $14.99

 

Bus ticket refund insurance

To cover yourself for any number of reasons your travel plans may change, simply select ‘bus ticket refund insurance’ for only $10.99. With Bus Ticket Refund Insurance, the price of your bus ticket will be refunded if we are notified by email up to 3 hours before the departure time (the booking fee of $3.99 and travel insurance of $10.99 are non-refundable).

Protection from the risks of travel
To make sure you are covered from any risk associated with travel, we recommend purchasing a personal comprehensive travel insurance policy covering your complete travel plans.
No show
If you forgot you had a bus to catch, or slept in, or are running late, don’t blame us for not calling you. We have a great team. If they have time, they may give you a courtesy call to check where you are, but they’re not your alarm clock. If you don’t show up for your bus or miss the bus, that’s your bad.
You’ve missed the bus
If you miss the bus for any reason, we won’t refund your ticket or transfer your ticket to another time. Just make sure you’re at the pick-up point stated on your ticket 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. 

Don’t even ask for a refund or transfer. Don’t even call. That’s just rude.

Liability
Our liability to you, in all circumstances, is limited to the price of your bus ticket. For peace of mind, check your personal travel insurance details.

Or, if you think your travel plans may change, choose Atomic Travel’s Bus Ticket Insurance. You can cancel your ticket before 5pm, the day before you travel by e-mail, and the price of your ticket(s) will be refunded (excluding the booking and insurance fee).

Bus, plane or train connections
Allow at least 90 minutes between our arrival times and your bus, flight, or train connection check-in times. We are not responsible for any missed connections resulting from delays to our service for any reason.
Cancelled service
If we cancel a service for any reason, we will refund the bus ticket price in full.
You missed the bus after a meal break, or rest break, or Drivers Break
During our journeys, comfort stops are offered, or the bus stops for a refreshment break. Your driver will let you know there is a comfort stop or refreshment break and what time the bus will leave. Do make sure you are back before the time given. Your bus driver won’t have time to call or find you, or even to return back to collect you. If you miss the bus, you’ll have to make and pay for your travel arrangements, any other connecting travel plans, and all other associated costs.
Connecting with us from another bus, train or plane

If your connecting bus, train, or plane is delayed, we can’t wait for you. We have other passengers who have schedules too. Quite often they have connecting flights and special events they can’t miss. It’s a good idea to make sure your own personal travel insurance covers events such as this.

Delays or cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances
Sometimes there are events outside our control that cause delays such as heavy traffic, accidents, or road works. Sometimes even extreme weather conditions delay trips en route or force us to cancel our trips. We will keep in touch to let you know if travel is affected by these conditions or any unforeseen event to ensure disruption to your travel is minimised.
